All air preparation products play an important role in keeping costs associated with running your pneumatic system down. Each of the FRL (filter, regulator, lubricator) components factors in the overall solution to running the system as efficiently as possible in a different way. Below is the scoop on how filters help you save money.

parker_air_filterMost people understand that air filters play a crucial role in maintaining the health of pneumatic components, but filters are usually not considered when looking for ways to keep costs down.

In fact, air filters not only filter out dirt, but they also rid the compressed air of water and oil (oil introduced into the system by compressors as opposed to oil used to lubricate the components). All three of these contaminants corrode the system piping and damage internal parts of valves, cylinders and other pneumatic components.

As the inside of pipes oxidize, small particles of rust are introduced into the air stream and are pushed through the components of the pneumatic system. This causes excess wear and decreased working life of the components. Consequently, the FRL components have to be repaired and/or replaced more often, costing money.

Air filters also need maintenance to be effective. You need to replace the filter elements and drain water out of the bowl (unless you purchase a filter that does this automatically).

In conclusion, to control the operating costs of your pneumatic system, do not skip on your air preparation products. FRLs play an important role in keeping your system efficient, your pneumatic components protected, and your bank account happy.
