There are several types of Parker D.O.T. approved air brake fittings and transmission fittings to suit your application. Both compression and push-to-connect styles are available. The two terms are often confused or used interchangeably, but there are important differences between them. Air Brake-AB Fittings
- Characteristics: Electroless nickel plated bodies can be used with bio-diesel
- Tube compatibility: Copper, SAE J844 Type A & B Nylon tubing
- Thread availability: Male pipe, SAE straight thread
- Body material: Brass
- PSI: Up to 400
- Approvals: Meets D.O.T. FMVSS 571.106 when assembled with 63 NTA tube support & SAE J844 nylon tubing. Meets SAE J246
Transmission Fittings
- Characteristics: Specially designed slotted sleeve helps to eliminate notch stress due to over-torque; ideally suited for use in pressure protected air transmission applications
- Tube compatibility: SAE J844 Type A & B Nylon Tubing
- Thread availability: Male pipe
- Body material: Brass
- PSI: Up to 150
- Approvals: None required by D.O.T. for vehicle use
Air Brake-NTA Fittings
- Characteristics: Ribbed sleeve for compression & positive grip; comes with a pre-applied thread sealant
- Tube compatibility: SAE J844 Type A & B Nylon Tubing
- Thread availability: Male pipe, Female pipe, Metric
- Body material: Brass
- PSI: Up to 150
- Approvals: Meets D.O.T. FMVSS 571.106, SAE J246 & SAE J1131
Air Brake Hose Ends
- Characteristics: Meets D.O.T. FMVSS 571.106 standards when used with SAE J1402 air brake hose
- Hose compatibility: Parker 271 3/8 & ½ inch hose
- Thread availability: Male pipe, SAE straight thread
- Body material: Brass
- PSI: Up to 225
- Approvals: Meets D.O.T. FMVSS 571.106 when used with SAE J1402 air brake hose
Vibra-Lok
- Characteristics: Provides a positive reliable seal under vibration conditions, mechanical shock or tube movement. May be used with air, water, gasoline, oil, diesel fuel & lubricants
- Tube compatibility: copper, aluminum, steel, stainless steel, glass; available in inch dimension only
- Thread availability: Male pipe, SAE straight thread. Optional threads include ISO 6149 & British pipe threads
- Body material: Brass
- PSI: As low as 100 for severe vibration; up to 1000 for static pressure
- Approvals: None required by D.O.T. for vehicle use
