What Are Air Savers?

Parker Air Saver Selection
Parker Air Savers are pulsing air valves. A pulsing air valve quickly switches on and off, creating a pulsed air blow. In many cases the same amount of work can be accomplished with pulsing air blow as with continuous air blow.
The advantage of pulsing air blow is that when the valve is in the off position, it does not use any air, saving up to 50% of compressed air usage compared to continuous blow. In some cases, like cleaning PET bottles after the blow molding operation, using pulsing blow also does a better job of removing particles from product.

PET Bottle Production Processes That Can Benefit from Air Savers

Cleaning Preforms Prior to Blow Molding Operation

Before entering blow molding operation in a two-staged process, preforms are often cleaned with a blow of ionized air. Ionized air blow removes particles created by the previous operation before the preforms enter the blow molding machine.

Using a pulsing air valve increases the efficiency of particle removal.

Cleaning PET Bottles After Blow Molding Operation

After the PET bottles are blow molded, they are again cleaned by a blast of compressed air.

Using an Air Saver unit in this operation can reduce consumption of compressed air by up to 50%.

Conveying PET Bottles

Assisting blow is often used to help keep PET bottles organized during conveying to the printing or labeling operation. An escape blow is also used to keep the bottles from jamming up the production line if it is stopped.

In both operations above, Air Savers can reduce the compressed air usage by up to 50%.

Cleaning PET Bottles Before Pasting Labels or Printing

Ionized blow is used prior to labeling or printing to remove any debris that is attracted to the bottles on a conveyor.

Pulsing air removes the particles more efficiently than continuous blow.
