Parker introduces SAE aluminum tube fittings
If you have an application that calls for both light weight and corrosion resistance, Parker's new aluminum fittings may be your connector solution. They weigh approximately 65% less than their steel and stainless steel versions.
The aluminum fittings are green-anodized for increased corrosion resistance and for easy visual identification.
Parker's aluminum fittings are dimensionally interchangeable with steel and stainless steel fittings so you don't need to re-design your system in order to use them. The O-ring face seal fittings (Parker Seal-Lok) meet the dimensional standards for SAE J1453. JIC fittings (Parker Triple-Lok) meet the dimensional standards for SAE J514.
Both JIC and ORFS aluminum fittings are available in the following sizes: 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 5/8", 3/4" and 1". The maximum working pressure ranges from 1,500 psi to 3,800 psi for JIC and from 1,500 psi to 4,000 psi for ORFS fittings.
Going with the Parker's new aluminum fittings can not only save you some weight but it can save you money too - the aluminum fittings cost less than their stainless steel versions.
To order the aluminum version of Parker JIC or ORFS fitting, use the material code D. Example: F5OLO-D is the aluminum straight thread ORFS to SAE-ORB connector.
The following ORFS and JIC configurations are available in aluminum, other configurations can be quoted and custom manufactured.
ORFS (Parker Seal-Lok): HLO, F5OLO, FLO, C6LO, C5OLO, CLO
JIC (Parker Triple-Lok): HTX, F5OX, FTX, C6X, C5OX, CTX
CAUTION! Some assembly torque values for the aluminum fittings differ from steel and stainless steel fittings.
The tables below show the torque values and the T.F.F.T. (turns-from-finger-tight) or F.F.W.R. (flats-from-wrench-resistance) values for the Parker aluminum fittings. Except for NPTF thread, the torque assembly method is preferred over the T.F.F.T. method.
Parker ORFS Aluminum Fittings Torque and F.F.W.R. values
Parker JIC Aluminum Fittings Torque and F.F.W.R. values
Parker Straight Thread Aluminum Fittings Torque and T.F.F.T. values
